Ravi Kishan Criticises TMC Over Alleged Post-Poll Violence in West Bengal
Ravi Kishan on Thursday criticised the Trinamool Congress over alleged incidents of post-poll violence in West Bengal, claiming the ruling party was unable to accept the outcome of the elections.
Speaking to reporters during a private event in Jaunpur, the BJP MP said the people had expressed confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and voted for political change in the state.
BJP MP Alleges Rise in Political Violence
Ravi Kishan alleged that incidents of violence and killings had increased in West Bengal following the elections. He claimed the Trinamool Congress had engaged in politics driven by “loot, mafia, and intimidation” and said the party’s “real face” was now visible to the public.
The MP also referred to alleged attacks on BJP leaders, including Suvendu Adhikari, and said political tensions in the state remained high.
According to Ravi Kishan, the democratic verdict delivered by voters should be respected by all political parties. He urged an end to violence and appealed for peace in the state.
Remarks Directed at Mamata Banerjee
During the interaction, Ravi Kishan criticised Mamata Banerjee, claiming that the state leadership had believed it could not be defeated politically. He said voters had chosen change through democratic means.
The BJP MP further stated that law enforcement agencies would take action against those found responsible for instigating violence. He added that individuals involved in unlawful activities would face legal consequences.
Political Tensions Continue in Bengal
Political clashes and allegations of post-election violence have frequently surfaced in West Bengal during previous election cycles. Rival parties, including the BJP and the Trinamool Congress, have often accused each other of intimidation and attacks on workers.
The latest remarks from Ravi Kishan come amid continuing political tensions in the state, where both parties are attempting to strengthen their support base ahead of future electoral contests.
Why the Issue Matters
Allegations of political violence in West Bengal remain a significant concern because they affect public safety, democratic participation, and the overall political climate in the state. Calls for restraint and adherence to democratic norms have been made repeatedly by political leaders and civil society groups during periods of heightened political activity.
As political reactions continue, attention is likely to remain focused on law and order in the state and the response of authorities to allegations raised by rival parties.
