A Life Dedicated to Learning: How Late Shri Indraman Singh Ji Built a Legacy Beyond Classrooms

Late Shri Indraman Singh Ji, A Visionary That Educated Generations creating a
legacy of accessible education and future-ready learning
The journey of Late Indraman Singh began long before he founded one of
Maharashtra’s respected educational institutions. As a young boy, he walked miles to
attend school in a village near Varanasi. Education was not easily accessible, but his
desire to learn was stronger than the challenges that stood in his way. Those early
experiences would eventually shape a lifelong commitment to making education
accessible to others. Born into modest circumstances, Indraman Singh understood the
value of education from a young age. He left his village and moved to Varanasi at the
age of 12, where he came under the guidance of Guru Maharaj. There, he immersed
himself in the teachings of the Mahabharata, Ramayana and Bhagavad Gita.
The lessons of discipline, perseverance and service stayed with him throughout his life
and became the foundation of his future work. His pursuit of knowledge later brought
him to Mumbai, where he worked during the day and studied at night to complete his
education. He later moved to Pune and started Singh Travels near Nashik Phata.
However, a devastating fire destroyed the business, leaving him at a crossroads.
Rather than allowing adversity to define him, Singh chose a different path. Having
witnessed the power of education in his own life, he decided to create opportunities
for others.
With only ₹300 in hand and support from his friends Jayaram Patil and Motiram Pawar,
he founded Priyadarshini School in 1982. The school began with just five students, but
the purpose behind it was clear. Singh wanted to provide quality education that
remained accessible and affordable while fostering strong relationships between
teachers and students. He believed that education should go beyond academic
achievement and help young minds develop confidence, character and a sense of
responsibility. What began as a small school steadily evolved into the Priyadarshini
Group of Schools, serving more than 17,000 students through a network of campuses
and a growing alumni community spread across diverse professions and regions.
While remaining rooted in its philosophy, Priyadarshini has embraced innovative
learning practices that prepare students for a rapidly changing world. The focus is not
only on academic excellence but also on developing adaptability, critical thinking and
practical knowledge. Through technology-enabled learning, STEM initiatives and skillbased education, students are encouraged to develop communication, problemsolving and analytical skills required in an evolving global landscape. Sports, cultural
activities and holistic development programmes further contribute to building
resilience, leadership and teamwork.
A key pillar of Priyadarshini’s success is its investment in educators. Continuous
teacher training and professional development ensure that learning remains relevant,
engaging and aligned with evolving educational needs. Scholarship initiatives and
student support programmes further reinforce the institution’s commitment to
ensuring that deserving students have access to meaningful learning opportunities.
For Indraman Singh, education was never simply about classrooms or academic
results. It was about creating opportunities, building character and helping young
people realise their potential. His guiding belief was simple: work carried out with
honesty and purpose will eventually find its reward.
More than four decades after its establishment, Priyadarshini continues to reflect that
belief. By investing in students, empowering teachers and embracing progressive
learning approaches, the institution remains committed to shaping confident, capable
and responsible individuals.Today, the story of Priyadarshini is inseparable from the
story of its founder. From a boy who walked miles in search of education to a visionary
who opened doors for thousands, Indraman Singh’s legacy continues to inspire
generations and serves as a reminder that lasting change often begins with a single
dream.
