PM Modi Begins Two-Day Varanasi Visit, Set to Address Women’s Gathering and Launch Development Projects

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Varanasi on April 28 for a two-day visit to his parliamentary constituency, where he is scheduled to participate in public events, launch development initiatives, and address a large gathering focused on women’s issues.

He landed at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport and was received by senior state leaders, including Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation for 163 projects collectively valued at ₹6,322 crore.

Of these:

  • 50 projects worth over ₹1,000 crore will be inaugurated
  • 113 projects worth more than ₹5,200 crore will be launched

The initiatives span multiple sectors, including transport, healthcare, education, and urban infrastructure. Officials say the projects aim to improve connectivity, public services, and tourism facilities in the region.


Financial Support for Farmers

The Prime Minister is also scheduled to transfer approximately ₹105 crore to dairy farmers associated with cooperative networks. The payment is expected to benefit over one lakh farmers, supporting income generation in the rural dairy sector.


New Train Services Announced

As part of the visit, two Amrit Bharat Express trains will be flagged off:

  • A route connecting Varanasi and Pune
  • Another linking Ayodhya with Mumbai

These services are intended to improve long-distance connectivity and facilitate travel for passengers, including pilgrims and workers.


Official Engagements and Visit Schedule

Following the public events, the Prime Minister will remain in the city overnight. On April 29, he is expected to offer prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple before concluding his visit.
