CBSE Postpones Class 12 Board Exams in Middle East Amid Iran–Israel Conflict
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has postponed Class 12 board examinations scheduled in several Middle Eastern countries until March 16, citing the ongoing Iran–Israel conflict and the prevailing uncertainties in the region.
According to CBSE officials, the decision affects exams that were scheduled to be conducted between March 12 and March 16 in countries including Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, where CBSE-affiliated schools operate.
CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj said the decision was taken after a “critical review of the current situation” in the region and the uncertainties faced by students. The board stated that the move was also intended to address the stress and logistical challenges caused by the evolving security conditions.
The board said fresh examination dates will be announced later, and authorities will reassess the regional situation again on March 14 before making further decisions regarding the schedule.
CBSE had earlier postponed several examinations in the Middle East earlier in March as tensions escalated following military strikes and retaliatory actions linked to the Iran–Israel conflict.
The postponement applies only to CBSE-affiliated schools located in the affected Middle Eastern countries, while board examinations in India continue as scheduled. Students have been advised to stay in contact with their schools and monitor official CBSE updates for revised exam dates and further instructions.
