Indian Railways Proposes Two Vande Bharat and Three Amrit Bharat Trains via Bareilly
Indian Railways is planning to introduce five new train services through Bareilly as part of efforts to strengthen rail connectivity and improve travel options between northern India and major metropolitan destinations.
According to railway officials, the proposal includes two Vande Bharat Express trains and three Amrit Bharat Expressservices that would operate through Bareilly. The planned routes are expected to connect passengers to cities such as Jaipur, Mumbai, Agra and Bengaluru.
Route Surveys in Progress
Officials from Northern Railway and North Eastern Railway have started conducting route surveys to determine the most suitable paths for the proposed services. The surveys are aimed at assessing infrastructure requirements and operational feasibility before finalizing the routes.
Railway authorities said the surveys will help identify corridors that can support the introduction of faster and modern train services.
Proposal Includes Vande Bharat Sleeper
In addition to the daytime trains, railway authorities are also considering the introduction of a Vande Bharat Sleeperservice on this corridor. The sleeper version of the train is designed for longer journeys and overnight travel.
Officials say such services could provide improved comfort and faster travel options for passengers traveling between northern and southern parts of the country.
Connectivity for Kumaon Region
Railway officials indicated that the project is intended to improve rail access for the Kumaon region and nearby areas. The introduction of modern trains through Bareilly could help strengthen links between smaller cities and major economic centres.
Possible Timeline
According to railway sources, the proposed train services could be introduced during the 2026–27 period after route surveys are completed and operational approvals are granted.
Additional details regarding routes, schedules and stops are expected to be announced once the planning process is finalized.
